Currently, there are many different sects of Fengshui.  Every different sect has its own unique theory.  As long as the services and analysis provided help to the ones who reside in the institution or home, bring upon good luck, harmony, peace, and health, then the geomancer has considered himself fulfilling the task and responsibility professionally.  Therefore, do not get too enchanted with the practice of one particular sect and underestimate another.  At the end of the day, it is only the trust and honesty towards one another, that will bring about greater benefits to all.

The origin of Feng Shui is not clear.  The earliest record of Feng Shui history began only after the dynasty of Zhou, however, it is greatly regretted that most of the records in regards to Feng Shui had disappeared with time and historical events.  What was left to this date, is incomplete, and like a jigsaw puzzle with many missing components, it is impossible to form a complete picture.

Just like what was stated in Yi Jing [ a Book of Changes ]: “The only thing that remains unchanged, is change”.  Most people have also understood the need for changes.  Therefore, it is true that even the subject, the theory, and the Feng Shui methodology, brought down from great history may not be applicable in today’s society.

For example, you may know that the houses built in the past take on a horizontal coverage, and now, buildings are shooting vertically high up into the sky.  Therefore, if one will to inflexibly follows the explanation and theory of the geomancer or Feng Shui methodology of the past, this explained that the predication and calculation will inevitably be lack of accuracy.

Since there was no modern high-rise building in the past, this calculation method is naturally lacking. In the face of today’s buildings looking at Feng Shui in high-rise residential buildings, and based on that kind of calculation, the geographical time algorithm determines the residential Feng Shui . Especially in European and American countries, there is indeed a trend of new styles in building design, regardless of the interior, the appearance is different from our country. Despite how to solve it, it is by no means because of its different forms and to determine the auspiciousness exists. Despite the difference in shapes and sizes of all lodgings, there remain certain principles of Feng Shui which remain unaffected.

时下流行的风水派别有很多：八宅、飞星、玄空、三合、四大局和奇门遁甲等。每一个派别各有独特理论，只要能够合理分析宅位吉凶，让居住者了解如何趋吉避凶，家里成员安居康泰，看风水者就已经不负所托，也算是尽了责任与义务。因此，大家无须太执着于门派的分别，只有互相信任、坦诚相对，才能互辅互成，运势亨通。

由于风水学说的起源颇难考证，惟有周代以后才有记载关于“阳宅风水”的文字，遗憾的是，这些记录大部分都随着朝代的变迁而转变或消失，留下来的小部分不少错漏百出，前后不相符，因此令人有无所适从之感。

纵观人世间的任何事物都会随着时间而转移、转变，正如《易经》所说的：“神农氏没尧舜氏作，通其变使民不倦。”这句话明显指出“变”的道理，这也是一般人的心态。由此我们应该意识到在不断进步的时代中，就算运用我们祖先遗留下来的宝贵学说，“风水”也不可以完全依赖以往的角度，抱残守缺、一成不变地把它原原本本地搬到今时今日的楼宇中应用，认定它是判断吉凶的金科玉律。

相信大家都知道，以往我国屋子建筑都采用四平八正模式，达官贵人的豪宅占地广阔也取平面层次式设计，所谓三进宅、七进宅。而现今住宅动辙楼建数十层，竞向上空发展，欲与天公共比高，看该等楼房，“风水”若按古法而不作若干调整去计算其中住宅单位吉凶，恐怕灵验程度不大。

由于从前没有现代式高楼，自然缺少这个计算方法，而面对今天建筑在高楼住宅看风水，又凭那种计数作依据，天时地利算法，确定住宅风水。尤其在欧美国家，屋宇设计确有天天新款的趋势，不论内部、外型与我国回然而异。

尽管如何解决，决非因其形态不同便抹煞吉凶气息存在问题。尽管所有住宿的形壮和大小有所不同。风水的某些原理性仍然不受影响。
